Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the boarding school filled with wizards and witches ranging from the ages 11 to 18, who are from all across Europe since 990 A.D. But since the First Wizarding War, tensions have tremendously increased, especially since Death Eaters, Lord Voldemort’s followers, have been lurking in the shadows every since, waiting for their Lord to return once again. The new war between the Pure Blood radicals and The Order, developed by Dumbledore, has grown into a country wide fight that will effect not just Europe’s wizarding world, but all the continents surrounding it as well. The Ministry of Magic is attempting to keep it under wraps, but the whole community can feel the tensions growing without needing approval of the Minister. Hogwarts has been undergoing changes as well, such as a new professor for the Defense Against Dark Arts every year, and with the Chosen One, Harry Potter’s arrival at Hogwarts. The war is growing and pureblood radicals are becoming relentless. Will you survive the second wizarding war?
This RPG is based around the canon writings of J.K. Rowling and the Harry Potter Universe, with a few adjustments for original characters and more in depth headcanons. We are more than welcomed to accept original characters as well as the numerous canons. It is based primarily at Hogwarts, most of our group events will be events at Hogwarts, such as quidditch matches, the yule ball, and action-based war events. Feel free to dm us to develop an original character or a canon!
⠀
Please note that we do not support JK Rowling as well as her beliefs or statements in anyway; the wizarding world has grown past her. All of the admins are dedicated to making the hp universe a more inclusive and accurate portrayal of the world as well.
the four houses are called gryffindor, hufflepuff,
ravenclaw and slytherin. each house has its own noble history
and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards.
This list is canons that were featured in the golden era hogwarts years. It’ll include people in their year along with people whose birth / hogwarts years are similar. Some of these are assumed canons because JKR hasn’t specifically said when they were born, but that helps to build a character since there isn’t much info on them! If they aren’t that important of a canon, change their age a bit if you want to portray them!
THINGS TO NOTE: almost all of these canons have no description or little description of their looks. the ones with suggested faceclaims are derived from fanon headcanons and hp fanart, whereas the ones with ' ... ' next to it mean there's absolutely no physical depiction of them at all. whoever you choose to portray, just make sure to do your research before picking a faceclaim. we also strongly encourage poc recastings of canons as well and ask that you stick to the proper representation of all characters.

i. after the four admins have discussed this for a few months, we have decided that we are revamping pottersarmy. a lot of us aren’t joining with characters we have always joined with, and if we are, we are having a clean slate with them (for example, previous oc connections are erased). feel free to retire any old character and start new for a fresh start!
ii. be inclusive! we understand your character will have their friend group, but that doesn’t mean have a group ooc. do not be cliquey. we expect all members to me inclusive, interact and be nice to everyone. we expect everyone to be kind to other members in private dms, posts, group events, groupchats, etc. please dm us if you have any issues.
iii. we expect all of our members to follow our character restrictions as they update and change throughout the course of the rpg. all new members joining must follow along as well. feel free to dm the main account to discuss character developments you aren’t sure about.
iv. during group events, we expect everyone to interact with one another. during certain action-based group events (ex. quidditch), we expect no member to godmod the event or another character as well as everyone play fair and make all their actions realistic.
v. please do not self-accept yourself into the group. there are four admins with complete different timezones and we promise we will get to you! if you think we’ve missed over it, dm your application post to us!
vi. inactivity that goes on for three days will result in a dm from the main account. you will have one day to respond, if you don’t, your faceclaim will be opened up. we understand people are busy, so if you know you’ll be inactive for a few days, dm us an explanation, and we will understand!
vii. multi accounts aren’t allowed.
last updated: 3/14/21
i. you are limited to double joining only. no more exceeding that.
ii. our werewolf this reboot is zoë beckett, penned by elle. our seer is elara bones, penned by sarai. and our legilimens is mandy brocklehurst, penned by barrett.
iii. we have 3 transfer students currently, dm us if you’re interested. we will probably allow 3-4.
iv. pure blood cap is usually the first cap we get each reboot. please consider making your oc a muggleborn or half blood. all pure blood spots will go to sacred 28 members first.
v. death eater storylines / parents will be limited to canon death eater families only. with that being said, no student death eaters allowed besides draco malfoy for plot reasons. you can obviously have your character side with them, just not actively become one! ( ex. ivy parkinson sides with them, but is not one. )
vi. bloodline capping will be enforced once again! that means, some canon bloodlines are not meant to have siblings in and some people who join as canons do not want siblings. you must contact the main account or the member of the bloodline you want to join and discuss with us / them before joining! we will continually update our bloodline highlight on the main account.
vii. we encourage people to join as canons, major or minor ones. please check out our fancast!
viii. we also have a character tip list on here as well to help you direct you into making your character !
i. we don’t allow draco malfoy, harry potter, the weasleys, or hermione granger siblings. it interferes with the storyline of hp.
ii. make sure your character developments fit the storyline of the golden trio era. stray away from making your character extremely similar to canons in the universe.
iii. we do not allow gaunt or riddle children.
iv. hermione granger is called the brightest witch of her age for a reason! she’s the smartest girl of her year and all of hogwarts during her time. don’t disrespect her y’all.
v. it’s extremely rare that a first year is asked to participate on a quidditch team hence why everyone is amazed by harry when he was asked.
vi. remember your character might be strong and brave, but they most likely will not called voldemort by voldemort! barely anyone does, for a reason, they’re scared shitless of him), so keep this in mind during ic groupchats or writings.
vii. there’s a lot of families that are extinct, please do your research beforehand or dm the admins!
viii. if you choose to make your oc a sacred 28 oc keep in mind what houses those families are actually loyal to. unless the family doesn’t have much info on them, there’s no reason that there should be dramatic house changes for your oc, or dm the admins to discuss stuff!
ix. purebloods aren’t the most popular bloodline since many purebloods have went on and marries muggles or halfbloods and what not. so take that into consideration when you’re deciding a blood status!
x. werewolf ocs. ok yes we all want to remus lupin but werewolves are extremely rare. unless you’re dying to have it apart of your oc (like i am with my golden era oc) try and stir away from it!
xi. slytherins during the battle of hogwarts. you need to make sure you know slytherin were locked up in the dungeons during the battle. they weren’t prancing around the battlefield shooting down other students or even death eaters depending on their side.
xii. of course you can make an oc that has ties with death eaters or death eater parents but they probably do not have the dark mark and probably aren’t an “official” death eater. sure you can have them side with the deatheaters but sorry! they probably aren’t an official member like draco.
xiii. okay so listen. we all know there’s a shit ton of faceclaim ideas that have caps of them performing wandless magic but it’s simply not common unless it’s pre hogwarts or when they’re in a serious emotional state. period.
ADMINISTRATION NOTE: we enforce bloodline capping in pottersarmy. that means, some canon bloodlines are not meant to have siblings in and some people who join as canons do not want siblings. this is the current list of capped bloodlines in alphabetical order. this will be updated throughout the course of the rpg.

HOW TO PLAY:
The way we will run quidditch roleplays is very simple, but will take some getting used to. What will happen is we will use a random generator to see who starts with the quaffle. After that, the selected team will have up to three comments from three different characters to make one play (making sure some of it is open-ended so the other team can respond). After the play is done, the other team will get the chance to perform a play as well. This will keep going until the roleplay itself fizzles out, someone catches the snitch, or the referees or team captains decide that the game should be over.
EXAMPLE: Obviously the replies will be longer and more detailed than this, but this is just to help give everyone a general idea of what to do / write. Again, each team has UP TO three comments per play, but it is not always necessary. Just clarify when the play is finished so the other team knows.
The match is Hufflepuff vs. Ravenclaw; the generator chooses Ravenclaw, so they start off with the quaffle and the match begins.
Comment 1: N/A grabs the quaffle as it is thrown into the air and dodges a Hufflepuff player; they reserve pass it to N/A, a fellow chaser, who seems to be open. They hover in the air for a moment after throwing the quaffle, hoping N/A will catch it.
Comment 2: N/A moves towards the goal as the match begins, staying open by avoiding any of the other Hufflepuff players. They watch N/A take a risk and reserve pass it to avoid another player; barely catching the quaffle, they move quickly towards the goalpost and throws the quaffle aggressively. As they tossed the fast ball, they waited and anticipated it to soar through the goal to the left.
Comment 3: While the Chasers worked their way towards the goalposts, N/A fly higher in the air to attempt to find the snitch. Looking around anxiously, nothing seemed to appear.
[ End of Play ]
Comment 1: N/A stayed back at the goalposts while the match began, being the keeper they rarely left this position throughout the entire game. The Ravenclaw Keepers made their way quickly across the field in a competitive fashion. The fastball seemed to come out of almost nowhere as it soared directly towards the left goal. N/A leaned forward as they flew towards the quaffle and swung their arm out, knowing he couldn’t catch it, but tipped it off so the quaffle missed the goal.
Comment 2: Whilst the match began, N/A spotted the bludger flying around in its aggressive zig-zag lie patterns and made their way over quickly towards it. First dodging it before swinging the beater’s bat at it and aiming up towards the seeker. The bat made impact with the bludger and it went flying towards the Ravenclaw Seeker rather quickly.
[ End of Play ]
The game starts with the referee releasing all four balls from the central circle. The Bludgers and Snitch are bewitched to fly off of their own accord, but the Quaffle is thrown into the air by the referee to signal the start of play (This is similar to how the games of basketball and Gaelic football, popular Muggle sports begin by the referee throwing the ball in the air).
Since the lengths of Quidditch games are variable (some games can go on for days if the Golden Snitch is not caught) the game is not played in periods, although captains can call for a time out. Teams continue using the same goal posts to score throughout the game.
Chasers score by sending the Quaffle through any of the three goal hoops. Each goal scored is worth ten points. After a goal is scored, the opposing team's Keeper throws the Quaffle back into play.
The game only ends when the Golden Snitch is caught, or at the agreement of both team Captains. Catching the Golden Snitch is worth 150 points to the team whose Seeker made the catch. The Snitch is bewitched to respond to the first witch or wizard to make contact with it, in case there is any dispute regarding which Seeker touched it first. Despite this, there have been several instances in which the Snitch has been fumbled. The winner of the game is the team with the most points, regardless of who caught the Golden Snitch. As a result, it is possible, although difficult, to win the game even though the opposing team caught the Snitch, if your team is one hundred and sixty or more points ahead, as was the case of the final match between Ireland and Bulgaria of the 1994 Quidditch World Cup. It is never explained what happens in the event of a tie.
The rules are fairly simple. Follow the rules of quidditch and just be realistic. Don’t be dodging every single bludger left and right and scoring ever point while grabbing the golden snitch all at once. It defeats the purpose of roleplaying the match. Don’t be afraid to change things up as well; quidditch is an extremely aggressive game so having your character get a broken limb or knocked out by a bludger isn’t unrealistic, it’ll actually help keep the roleplay interesting.
i. Players must not stray over the boundary lines of the pitch, although they may fly as high as desired. The Quaffle must be surrendered to the opposition if any player leaves the boundary (it is unknown what the penalty is if a player on defence leaves the pitch).
ii. "Time out" may be called at any time by the Captain of a team.
iii.* Penalties can be handed to teams by the referee. A single Chaser may take the penalty by flying from the central circle towards the scoring area. The opposing team's Keeper may attempt to stop the shot being scored, but all other players must not interfere (it is unknown if the Seeker may still attempt to catch the Snitch while a penalty is being attempted).
iv. Contact is allowed, but a player may not seize hold of another player's broomstick or any part of their anatomy.
v. No substitution of players is allowed throughout the game, even if a player is too injured or too tired to continue to play. Players may take their wands onto the pitch, but they must not be used on or against any players, any players' broomsticks, the referee, any of the four balls, or the spectators.
vi. Only the Keeper can block quaffle shots thrown by the opposing team.
NON-QUIDDITCH PLAYERS: For those of you who aren’t on a quidditch team (or are but aren’t currently playing) will be in the stands cheering, shouting, or having your own conversations. Whatever helps you guys keep engaged as well is fine just don’t do anything crazy that would distract from the actual game (Professor Quirrell I’m looking at you).
REFEREES: There will a referee from each house to help us guide the match and make sure the winning team wins fairly. They will work closely with the team captains to make sure that the game is running smoothly. One admin per game will also be a referee unless we are both playing the game.
COMMENTATORS: These students are hand-selected and will commentate on the game. Lee Jordan is canonically a commentator, but we’ll have people fill in for him until someone joins as him or if he’s in the group but is inactive during the game.
POPULAR PLAYS:
Bludger Backbeat: A Beater hitting a Bludger with a back-hand swing to confuse the opposition.
The Bludger Backbeat is a Quidditch tactic in which the Beater strikes the Bludger with a back-hand swing, sending the ball behind them rather than in front. The move is hard to pull off with any precision, but usually succeeds in confusing the opposition.
Chelmondiston Charge: A Chaser stands on their broomstick and leaps, thrusting the Quaffle towards a goalpost.
The Chelmondiston Charge is a Quidditch tactic, used score a goal. A Chaser in possession of the Quaffle stands up on top of their broomstick, and then leaps, thrusting the Quaffle in the direction of one of the three goalposts
Dionysus Dive: A Chaser stands on their broomstick and leaps, punching the Quaffle towards a goalpost.

Double Eight Loop: A Keeper flies in front of the three goals at high speed to block the Quaffle.
The Double Eight Loop is a Quidditch tactic used by Keepers. Usually employed against penalty takers, the Keeper swerves around the three goal posts at high speed in an attempt to block the Quaffle.
Finbourgh Flick: A Chaser uses their broomstick to hit a Quaffle in midair into a goalpost.
The Finbourgh Flick is a Quidditch tactic, used score a goal. A Chaser in possession of the Quaffle throws it into the air, and then quickly rolls off it while sharply grabbing the end of their broom, and swings it in order to hit the Quaffle in mid-air through one of the goalposts.
Parkin's Pincer: Two Chasers trap an opposing Chaser, while the third Chaser commits blatching.
Parkin's Pincer was a Quidditch tactic named after the original Wigtown Wanderers, who were believed to have invented it. During the move, two Chasers close in on an opposing Chaser, hemming them in. The third Chaser then flies directly at the trapped Chaser.
Plumpton Pass: Hiding the Snitch in the Seeker's sleeve to confuse the opponents.
The Plumpton Pass is a move in Quidditch where the Seeker casually scoops the Snitch up in their sleeve, and it was invented by Roderick Plumpton in 1921. Critics allege that the move was an accident, but Plumpton insisted until his death that it was intentional.
Porskoff Ploy: One Chaser flies upward, and then throws the Quaffle down to another Chaser directly below.
The Porskoff Ploy is a Quidditch tactic named after Russian Chaser Petrova Porskoff. A Chaser flies straight upwards with the Quaffle in an attempt to make the opposing team's chasers follow him. Then, the Chaser with the Quaffle throws the ball directly down to a fellow Chaser below the opposing team's chasers. The move requires pinpoint timing on the part of the Chasers.
Reverse Pass: A Chaser throws the Quaffle over his or her shoulder.
The Reverse Pass is a Quidditch tactic where one Chaser throws the Quaffle over his/her shoulder to another player, although maintaining accuracy is difficult.
Transylvanian Tackle: A fake punch to the nose to confuse the opponent (as long as contact is not made, it is not illegal).
The Transylvanian Tackle is a Quidditch tactic which debuted during the 1473 Quidditch World Cup. The move is a feint of a punch to the nose to distract or confuse an opposing player. As long as contact is not made, the move is not illegal, but it is difficult to pull off on speeding broomsticks.
Woollongong Shimmy: Chasers fly in a zig-zag motion to confuse opposing Chaser.
The Wollongong Shimmy is a Quidditch tactic invented by the Wollongong Warriors. It is a high speed zig-zag move that is designed to confuse and distract opposing Chasers.
QUAFFLE THROWS:
Straight Ball: a straight shot.
A Straight Ball is a type of shot in Quidditch, which as the name implies, has the Quaffle travelling in a straight line towards the Goalpost. A Fast Ball is a similar shot, but with increased speed.
Fast Ball: a fast, straight shot.
A Fast Ball is a type of shot in Quidditch, which, as the name implies, has the Quaffle travelling very quickly in a straight line towards the Goalpost.
Curve Ball: a ball that curves unpredictably.

Knuckle Ball: a ball that spirals towards the goal post.
A Knuckle Ball is a type of shot in Quidditch, which has the Quaffle spiralling towards the Goalpost.
POPULAR FOULS:
these will not be allowed during the roleplay of any match, scrimmage, or practice!
Blatching: Flying with the intent to collide. (All players)
Blurting: Locking broom handles with the intent to steer an opponent off course. (All players)
Bumphing: Hitting Bludgers towards spectators. (Beaters only)
Haversacking: Hand still on the Quaffle as it goes through the goal hoop – the Quaffle must be thrown through the goal. (Chasers only)
Quaffle-pocking: Tampering with the Quaffle – e.g. puncturing it so that it falls more quickly or zig-zags. (Chasers only)
Stooging: More than one Chaser entering the scoring area. (Chasers only)
Three Chasers: The Chasers control the Quaffle and attempt to get it through the goal hoops past the Keeper. Each goal is worth ten points. This makes them similar to the forwards in football, as the game is generally started with the Referee releasing the Quaffle into the air for the Chasers to try and claim possession of. Only one chaser is allowed into the scoring area when attempting to score.
Chasers are generally considered the most exhilarating to watch by spectators during a Quidditch game, at least until the Golden Snitch has been spotted. Chasers are typically swift and agile flyers (second only to the Seeker). Chaser moves in the modern game of Quidditch include: Hawkshead Attacking Formation, Parkin's Pincer, Porskoff Ploy, and Reverse Pass.
Two Beaters: There are two Beaters on every Quidditch team, and they are the only players on the pitch who have bats. Their job is to keep the Bludgers away from their team and at the same time try and aim the Bludgers towards the opposite team.
Beaters need to be well built, having considerable physical strength in their arms since they are charged with hitting the Bludgers throughout the whole match. Because of this, most of the beaters throughout history have been wizards rather than witches playing in this position. However, there have been exceptions, such as the famous Captain of the Holyhead Harpies, Gwenog Jones, among others. Beaters also need to have good balance, as they are, at times, required to take both hands off their broomstick.
One Seeker: The goal of the Seeker is to catch the Golden Snitch. They play a crucial role in Quidditch, as a game does not end until the Seeker catches the Snitch. A team whose Seeker catches the Snitch receives 150 points, which almost always wins the match for that team.
Seekers are generally the smallest and lightest players on a team, and there is a certain glamour attached to playing as a Seeker. Generally, the Seeker is also the most fouled player on the team.
One Keeper: There is one Keeper per team, and it is their job to guard the three goalposts attempting to stop the other team's Chasers from scoring. The keeper also wears the most protection than any other position, which includes a helmet, shoulder/chest pads and knee pads. This effectively makes them heavier than most of their other team-mates.
Keepers are typically well-built and athletic players who usually stick close to the goal posts where they can deploy their defensive skills to their fullest capacity. Keepers generally kept inside this area in order to prevent the opposition from scoring. Keepers are only allowed out of this area to head off incoming Chasers.
